RUTIN - AKNE & FET HUD

ROUTINE - ACNE & OILY SKIN

Everyone needs a certain amount of sebum (oil) to keep skin supple and hydrated. Skin type is determined by how much sebum the skin on your face produces; depending on this, your skin type can be categorized as dry, combination and oily.

An oily skin type is exactly what it sounds like – excess sebum on the face gives a shiny or oily appearance. If you don't treat your oily skin, pores can become clogged/enlarged and dead skin cells can pile up. Blackheads, pimples and other types of acne are also common with this skin type.

If your skin has the following, you have an oily skin type:

- Your face becomes oily and usually greasy after a day.
- Make-up does not stay put and seems to "slip" off.
- The oilier parts of your face have blackheads, pimples or other types of acne
- Pores are visibly enlarged, especially on the nose, chin and forehead

Combination skin then?
Pay special attention to your t-zone. The T-zone is the forehead and nose which naturally tend to have more active sebaceous glands that can produce excess sebum. If your t-zone is oily but the rest of your face looks normal or dry, you have combination skin.

Oily skin is usually hereditary - if you have oily skin, it's probably because your parents had/have it. Excess sebum can also be the result of elevated hormone levels, such as during puberty, as well as during certain parts of a woman's menstrual cycle, during pregnancy and when they go through menopause, as the sebaceous glands become more active during these times.

If your oily/oily skin is bothering you, there is also good news - those with oily skin tend to have more oil in their skin, which makes them less prone to premature wrinkles. The key is to keep the oiliness of your skin under control and add more moisture! Below we share a good starting routine for those of you who experience oily/combination skin:
